Introduction
The first Acer C120 projector presented at CES 2012. It is notable for its small size and robust component. That is why the given device will be famous among business people and lovers of compact equipment.
Design & Characteristics
Acer C120 has a somewhat minimalistic design. So, its upper panel made of glossy black plastic: the minus of this coating is that all fingerprints and dirt are visible on it. On the sides of the projector has horizontally located ribs that give the model originality. The bottom panel has a matte black finish, which is quite lovely to the touch. On the right side is a small focus ring. On the left are a power connector and a Y-USB 3.0 port, due to which the projector can also receive more power current. It is where all the features of the presented news end. Particular attention should pay to the legs, which would be better to make adjustable because this would not only change the appearance of the model for the worse but would also significantly increase functionality.
The Acer C120 projector measures 110 x 85 x 25 mm and weighs 176 grams – this device will not interfere on the road at all; it will not take up much space in a laptop bag. The presented projector uses DLP digital projection technology. The projector can only use on Windows operating systems. The diagonal of the installed matrix is 0.3 inches. The aperture of the mounted lens can open up to F / 1.87, and the manufacturer guarantees 20,000 hours of operation of a specially designed LED lamp. In standard mode, the brightness level is 100 lm, and the projector operates in 24-bit mode, which corresponds to 16.7 million colors. The standard resolution of the picture is 854×480 pixels, and the maximum is 1280×800. As for contrast, its value is 1000: 1. Through the use of particular technologies, ColorSafe and SmartFormathigh resolution quality achieved, so the projector can be used not only for showing presentations but also for various entertainments. The package includes a power supply and dual USB Y-cable, which is used both for data transfer and for power from the USB port. Also, detailed instructions and a disc with software and a user manual recorded on it are attached. For ease of transportation, the manufacturer equipped the model with a convenient bag.
Connection
Many projectors connected to a computer via the VGA port. However, the Acer C120 has a USB 3.0 interface: this solution is the most convenient and easy to use. Also, when connecting to any laptop, the drivers are installed automatically, so there is no need to carry a software disc with the user all the time. The peculiarity of the connection is that the computer requires two USB connectors: on the one hand, it is convenient, since it does not require the use of an external power source, on the other hand, not all ultraportable laptop models boast two USB ports located close to each other to a friend. The user can use one port, but in this case, the brightness of the picture will reduce by half.
Control
Acer C120 microprojector differs from many models in that there are no menu control keys. Thus, it is impossible to make more detailed settings for some features, including brightness and contrast. The only thing possible here is device control using special software on the computer, but the functionality here is minimal.
Performance
The Acer C120 has a DLP-LED system with a power of 100 lumens. If installed 3 meters from the wall, the image diagonal is 49 inches, while the brightness reaches 94 lux, if the user uses the supplied power supply or connect it to two computer USB ports. If the user uses only one USB connector without a power supply, the average brightness will be only 45 lux.Image quality is entirely satisfactory for a device of this size. The sharpening wheel is very convenient for the user to adjust the image quickly and without any problems. During use, the projector heats up noticeably, even though the cooling system here is quite powerful.
