Introduction
There is not the smallest doubt about the drone; at first, you want to hold it in your hands to enjoy tactile and visual perception. In the transport state, the drone has a compact size due to folding carbon beams. In the pre-flight state, the Typhoon H Pro Intel Real Sense stands on two impressive carbon supports that change their position when the drone rises into the air, which in turn allows the drone’s camera, mounted in a 3-axis suspension, to shoot 360 degrees. As a result, the Typhoon H hexacopter takeoff alone deserves special attention. The Yuneec Typhoon H Pro Intel Real Sense hexacopter is ready to fly and box (RTF) and occupies the Smart Drone segment, which means that the user does not have to have UAV control skills. The purpose of the Yuneec Typhoon H hexacopter is a highly original and high-quality professional photo and video recording.
Camera
Onboard the Yuneec Typhoon H Pro Intel Real Sense, there is a 12MP 4K camera CGO3 + developed by Yuneec International. The camera writes video in quality: 4K at 30 frames/s, 2.7K at 30 frames/s, 2.5K at 30 frames/s; FHD at 24/25/30/48/50/60/120 fps. It suspended on a 3-axis gimbal that allows the camera to rotate around its axis without restriction (360º). The camera uses high-quality optics, providing the first field of view of 98º. During the flight, a manual adjustment will always be available to the pilot. The exposure time was increased, which significantly improved the quality of shooting photographic material. The quality of the photo/video output corresponds to the UAV ‘Premium’ segment.
Software
The assembly from the base to the screws stuffed with smart functionality. The software filling plays a unique role in its intellectual component. Intel RealSense technology works in conjunction with Follow Me mode. It synchronized with a special camera RealSense-R200, which equipped with a separate energy module, ‘IntelAtom.’ Thus, the hex perceives the surrounding space in full 3D mode.
Control
Personal ground station ST16 – a full-fledged control panel is running on OS Android. Despite a large number of control, everything is intuitive, and you don’t have to get used to it. I was pleased with the presence of the HDMI output; with its help, the pilot can always connect any source of image output or a SkyView FPV headset. In stock, the distance of FPV removal is 1.6km. One of the options presented by the developer for the configuration of the drone includes another hexacopter control tool – WizardRemote. It intended for piloting an apparatus without a ground ST16 station or with it. The RC remote is equipped with a built-in GPS beacon and operates at a frequency of 5.5 GHz. A pair of antennas installed in the upper part of the DPU provides the most robust and stable signal.
Flight Modes
The Wizard remote control is provided in Team Mode to control both remote control and the station. It designed to separate the operator capabilities and the pilot to facilitate the filming process and manual control. There is also an intelligent function, ‘NoFlyZone,’ which ensures the safest flight of the copter in a given range of signal coverage (height limit of up to 120 meters and 8 meters of landing away from the pilot). Among other things, the hexacopter has 6 software, built-in flight modes, which we will consider separately:
1.) OrbitMe – this function programs the device to fly around the target in a circle following the specified flight parameters, including distance from the object and altitude.
2.) Point of Interest – allows you to select the subject, set the parameters of a circular flyby of a given target, followed by shooting high-quality video and photo material.
3.) Journey – is a classic selfie mode that leaves the focus of the RC operator, then rapidly moving away from it to 45 meters in height and gradually moving closer to the source of attention.
4.) Follow Me – the first version of this functional implementation involves following the device after the pilot with shooting the overall plan (without the focus on a specific goal). The second option is to follow the object with the camera positioning directly on it.
5.) Curve Cable Cam – This function sets a point flight route with various elevations. In this case, you can control the shooting process manually.
6.) Dynamic Return Home – when this mode is activated, the drone quickly and obediently returns to the operator with a subsequent soft landing at a safe distance from it (up to 8 meters). The function provides for intellectual obstacles.
Battery
The kit comes with an impressive 4-can (4S 14.8V) lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 5400mAh 8C 79.9Wh – Battery POWER 4. It provides a maximum flight time of 25 minutes. It is charging time for about 2 hours.
Motors
The hexacopter equipped with 850KV brushless motors developed by Yuneec. The power plant capacity is enough with a margin. It confirmed by the fact that, if necessary, the drone can fly without one.
