Introduction
DJI has always caught the eye of customers since the launch of its first uncrewed aerial vehicle. In this article, we made a detailed review of the DJI Mavic 2 Drone, examined the characteristics and functions of the model, as well as the pros and cons. The Flying Module is the first device in the world to integrate a Hasselblad camera, providing excellent quality medium format photographs. The robot equipped with a one ″ CMOS matrix and a 10-bit Blog-M profile.
Design & Features
The new model in an innovative style is designed for the most dangerous and extreme filming, which exceeded. The drone’s body made of high-strength gray plastic, the shade of which under a specific type of lighting resembles “wet asphalt.” On the sides of the device, there are mechanisms with retractable slats; they equipped with dark gray propellers. At the top is a compartment with a removable battery. There is a convenient round start button with LEDs on the rim. LEDs indicate the current battery level. At the front, there is a camera with a protective cover, which must remove before starting. At the bottom of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, there are many individual sensors and a pair of LEDs to help the pilot fly at night. It is fair to say that the quadrocopter equipped with sensors not only from below but also on the sides, back, front, and even top. Sensors protect against collisions with surrounding objects at speed.
The DJI Mavic 2 Drone uses an improved HDR mode, which allows you to combine many images into one without distortion and all kinds of noise and provides the HyperLight function for bright frames with low-quality lighting. The quadcopter is equipped with an advanced H.265 codec for recording video at higher bitrates. This system was significantly improved, and the flight has become even more reliable due to the use of six-sided visualization. The APAS system helps the pilot in his work and automatically corrects the flight path of obstacles encountered along the way, providing the highest level of safety.
The GEO system allows you to inform the user about the possibility of flying at the current location: it will report the presence at the launch point of the quadrocopter of the airport, stadium, and other similar objects. ActiveTrack 2.0 introduces a combination of sensors that not previously used in DJI modules, which allows you to predict the path of the object and bypass obstacles without losing sight of it. The drone will enable you to get excellent results effortlessly, immediately broadcast them on social networks, save photo content (JPEG and RAW) on digital SD media, or in built-in storage with a capacity of 8GB with the possibility of post-processing.
Appearance
The second version of the Mavic Pro has an elongated shape. The overall dimensions of the drone when folded are 214x91x84 mm, in the expanded form 322x242x84 mm. In general, the device has a slightly futuristic design; it is easily transported and brought into working condition in a short time. With the DJI Mavic 2 Drone you get 8 GB of internal memory, but when you consider that it supports video capture at a speed of 100Mbps, this is a considerable amount. It will take less than 15 minutes. If you want to add a microSD, make sure you have enough capacity before the battery runs out, given the considerable cost.
Camera & Image Quality
The camera allows you to take 20-megapixel images in excellent color and with great detail. A 1-inch CMOS sensor delivers the highest frame quality, even in low light. The Mavic 2 Pro camera has a double optical zoom and a 24-48 mm lens, it uses autofocus, which it becomes possible to focus at a distance of 1 meter to infinity. Home » Quadrocopters » Dji » Overview quadrocopter DJI Mavic Creating a fantastically beautiful video is made available through the program Timelapse. The user can select one of some modes: “free,” “flight over bumps,” or “circle” and activate it by pressing a key in DJI Go 4.
There are several profiles available. Video editors can use one of the ready-made templates for a demonstration on the Internet, but if you are more experienced, you can using the D-Cinelike flat profile to get a clean plane for a more dynamic range. You will need to apply color gradation so that the flat frames look good. To get the best video from the drone, you need to go to – DJI Mavic 2 Drone, which does it a little better, recording material in a more reliable 10-bit format and offering the Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) advanced dynamic range (HDR). If you shoot in JPG with HDR, it mixes multiple exposures to get better shots.
Software
The quadrocopter can control from the remote control paired with an iOS/Android smartphone/ tablet using the DJI GO 4 application. Now it is not possible to operate using a single gadget without equipment for the DJI Mavic 2 Drone.
Motors
The second-generation quadrocopter has a more powerful, but at the same time energy-efficient power plant. The new brushless motors work in conjunction with speed controllers and low-noise propellers. Such a technological solution allowed to increase the flight speed in calm weather to 72 km/h.
Remote Control
The quadrocopter comes with a light gray remote with removable sticks. The controller operates in the frequency range 2.400-2.483 GHz/5.725-5.850 GHz. OcuSync 2.0 technology built into the remote control for transmitting data over long distances. The technology provides a maximum signal transmission distance up to 8 kilometers and video transmission with a resolution of up to 1080p. On the Mavic 2 Zoom, you can fly without a connected phone, based solely on the information shown there, but you will not get a view from the camera. Mavic 2 must be activated using the DJI Go 4 app before flying.
In addition to flight control, the remote control includes some direct camera control. The control wheels located on the shoulders – the left one adjusts the inclination of the gimbal, and the right one sets the zoom, as well as select buttons for taking an image or starting a video. The small joystick to the right of the information display used to lighten or darken your footage and pictures, and the pause button on the left stops the drone in place. On the side, there is a switch for switching flight modes, as well as a “Return to Home” button and power buttons on the front panel.
Battery
The DJI Mavic 2 Drone equipped with an intelligent four-can LiPo battery at 3850 mAh, which allows you to make autonomous flights up to 31 minutes (at a speed of 25 km/h). The battery lasts about one and a half hours.
