Introduction
This Huawei MateBook E hybrid device is capable of working in both tablet and laptop mode. Windows 10 chose the device’s operating system, but the device’s filling is much more interesting since the new Snapdragon 850 is responsible for its operation. The chip itself is not a copy of the top-end mobile processor Snapdragon 855, since they have a different generation of cores and other technical processes. The Snapdragon 850 is a slightly upgraded version of the Snapdragon 845. Nevertheless, for a tablet PC, it is quite a powerful and modern solution.
Appearance
Huawei Meitbuk E body is made of solid aluminum. The rectangular structure has rounded corners and edges. In this case, the ends are glossy. The backside is entirely made of metal, pleasant to the touch. Only the corporate logo flaunts here. The front side received a vast screen, around which there are relatively narrow 12-mm bezels. All this cover with an elegant and stylish 2.5D glass. There are grilles for multimedia speakers, two microphones, and a power button on the upper edge. The right side received a touch-sensitive fingerprint scanner, as well as a USB Type-C connector. On the left, there are volume buttons—the navigation keys located on display itself.
The gadget looks very impressive and solid, resembling the related Apple products. The slim body, which makes the tablet computer even more stylish and convenient, is pleasantly surprising. The matte back surface prevents the device from slipping out easily and hands. The box with the device contains a miniature MateDock 2 docking station with VGA and HDMI ports. It makes it possible to connect the tablet to a monitor or TV. It should note that there are USB Type-C and Type-A connectors to use peripherals without any problems. The Folio Keyboard complements the complete set of the tablet with an integrated stand. It can simultaneously serve as a beautiful protective case. This keyboard received a folding stand with adjustable tilt height. There is also a pleasant keyboard backlighting, which almost does not tire the eyes. Large keys have gotten the minimum distance between them. It is very convenient to type text using this keyboard. There is also a small touchpad that can confidently replace a computer mouse. Tablet dimensions without keyboard: length – 278.8 mm, width – 194.1 mm, thickness – 6.9 mm, weight – 600 g.
Display
The Huawei MateBook E houses a massive 12-inch screen. A high-quality IPS-matrix has a resolution of 2160 by 1440 pixels. It is necessary to highlight excellent viewing angles and increased contrast (1000: 1). Protective glass does its job entirely. Simultaneously, the maximum brightness level is not always enough to comfortably use the device on sunny days. There is support for up to 10 simultaneous touches. As for the color temperature, it goes more into cold shades. The user will be able to adjust the colors according to their preferences independently. This touchscreen display supports the MatePen stylus, but it must purchase separately.
Iron & Performance
Inside the Meitbook E is a mighty 7th generation Core i5-7Y54 processor from Intel, made using a 14nm process technology. It is a dual-core, four-thread chip with a base frequency of 1200 MHz. At the same time, in Turbo Boost mode, it accelerates to 3200 MHz. The calculated thermal power reaches only 4.5 W, which favorably affects the battery life. There is also a tablet version with a Core M3 7Y30 processor with a frequency of 1000 MHz.
It has a graphics accelerator HD Graphics 615 with a maximum frequency of up to 950 MHz. The amount of Huawei MateBook E RAM is 4 or 8 GB LPDDR3. A full-fledged SSD is built in here with a volume of 128, 256, or 512 GB. In the 3DMark Fire Strike test, the gadget scores about 700 points, and in 3DMark Cloud Gate – about 5300 points. Therefore, this device confidently copes with many applications and allows you to run some computer games.
Communication & Sound
With two high-quality stereo speakers, the Huawei Matebook E boasts good sound. The sound is similar and spacious for wireless connection with other devices, Bluetooth 4.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac use in headphones.
Camera
Huawei Meitbook E is equipped with only a single 5-megapixel camera located on the front side. It does not have a flash, nor does it have a lot of settings. But for photographing text and video, the connection is quite enough.
