Introduction

DJI Inspire 2 Drone is more reliable and more potent than its predecessor. He received a new case made of an alloy of magnesium and aluminum, which, according to DJI, reduced the weight of the drone and, at the same time, increased its strength.

Camera

An essential difference between DJI Inspire 2 Drone and all other drones is the presence of not one, but two cameras on board. Depending on the configuration, the drone can be equipped with one of the three available cameras of the Zenmuse family – X4S/X5S/X7 implemented in a 3-axis 360-degree mechanical suspension with a quick-release mechanism. It classically located at the bottom of the quadrocopter. And also, regardless of the selected kit, it is equipped with a heading camera installed in front of the DJI Inspire 2 Drone in two axial mechanical suspensions to ensure comfortable piloting with a separate “Pilot + Operator” operating method.

The Zenmuse X5S is built on a 4/3-inch sensor and supports up to 10 different lenses, including zoom lenses. The system also supports CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes video compression formats, which are relevant for cinema professionals. For shooting 30-megapixel images, the DNG and RAW formats used. In addition, Inspire 2 received a new version of the real-time video stream transmission system (streaming) with the image quality of 1080p at 50 frames/s and 720p at 60 frames/s over a distance of 7 kilometers.

Sensors

If you control the DJI Inspire 2 Drone alone, the drone can help make complex shots with computer vision and autonomous navigation. The Inspire 2 has sensors and cameras to detect and fly around obstacles. Visualization sensors are located in front and on top, and ultrasonic, and photosensors positioned below. Inspire 2 can autonomously recognize and fly around objects, as well as track a selected object (ActiveTrack intelligent mode), allowing you to automatically point the camera at an object for shooting, regardless of the direction of movement of the drone. Therefore, you can do without the second operator.

Flight Controller

To fully use DJI Inspire 2 Drone, two people are needed: a pilot controlling a drone and an operator controlling a camera. A picture from the front camera is transmitted to the pilot’s console, and a photo from the main one is sent to the operator. Both video streams do not overlap and do not interfere with each other.

Flight Modes

The pilot has 7 autonomous flight modes:

1.) Spotlight Pro – is one of the best offline flight modes. It allows you to automatically track the selected object and keep it in the frame, regardless of flight dynamics. If the range of the camera’s suspension reaches its redistribution, the drone will deploy in the right direction. Moreover, this will not affect either the flight or the quality of the material being shot. Including two sub-modes: Quick Mode and Composition Mode. Suitable for shooting without an operator.

2.) TapFly – tap a place on the FPV with your finger, and the drone will autonomously fly in its direction. Well, the pilot will be able to focus solely on the shooting.

3.) ActiveTrack – select the necessary object for shooting, make corrective settings for recognition accuracy, and the drone will follow it offline.

4.) Waypoint – point your finger on the FPV display the points through which the drone will have to fly, set the altitude and flight speed for each position separately, and the drone will perform an autonomous flight following the settings.

5.) Point of Interest – shows an independent circular plane of the selected object at a given height, distance, and at a given speed.

6.) QuickSpin – fast rotation mode can be activated both automatically and manually. It allows the drone to rotate 360 ° at the moment when the suspension reaches its maximum rotation of 270°.

7.) Return to Home – the drone will autonomously return to the take-off place in case of loss of communication, or forcefully at the command of the pilot, relying on the flight map created by the drone in real-time, choosing the shortest path to return.

Battery

The Inspire 2 Drone has two TB50 smart lithium polymer batteries in its arsenal. The productivity of each: 6S 22.8V 4280mAh 97.58Wh. Weight of one battery: 515 grams. They provide a maximum flight duration of 23 minutes with the Zenmuse X7 camera and 27 minutes with the Zenmuse X4S camera (at sea level, in calm). DJI Inspire 2 can fly very high up to 5 kilometers above sea level. As well as the drone equipped with a self-heating battery system, which allows you to operate the drone at temperatures up to -20°C.

Motors

The drone equipped with a powerful brushless power plant (4 × DJI 3512 motor), providing 2kg of thrust from each motor. It allows you to develop a maximum horizontal flight speed of 94km/h, max. take-off speed – 21km/h, max. speed reduction 36km/h. Acceleration to 80 km/h realized in 5 seconds and all this with unmatched handling.
