Introduction
In the distant, by UAV standards, 2013, the DJI company released the second modification of the DJI Phantom 2 Drone copter, which was called the DJI Phantom 2 Vision. It was a revolutionary apparatus. It no longer had children’s sores of the first and second phantoms, and the main feature of the company’s quadrocopters appeared – an integrated camera. DJI Phantom 2 Drone FPV RC61118 folding RC drone equipped with collector motors and an integrated HD camera. The image from the camera is transmitted via Wi-Fi in real-time to the smartphone screen. In this case, the smartphone can install on the control equipment.
Appearance & Motors
The drone is quite miniature when folded, and it turns into a small rectangle. On the front side, the Pilotage Phantom 2 case made of glossy white plastic with two pairs of recessed LED indicators. When unfolded, the occupied area increases to 380×380 millimeters (taking into account propellers and bumpers)—the rays, screws, and bottom of the quadrocopter made in black. In combination with the white color of the case, it looks very stylish and beautiful.
The Pilotage DJI Phantom 2 Drone uses collector motors, which, as we know from previous reviews, are significantly inferior in all respects to brushless motors. But the collector type of engines allows you to reduce the total cost of the quadrocopter. Therefore it is often used in devices of the budget and less commonly the average price segment.
Software
To be able to control the Pilotage Phantom 2 via a smartphone, you need to download and install the free PH-2FPV mobile application. The application is obtainable for iOS and Android operating systems. The following management methods are available in the mobile app:
1.) touch – the corresponding pointers appear on the screen, changing which the user can move the quadrocopter.
2.) gyroscopic – with this control method, the inclinations, and turns of the smartphone used to move the device.
3.) voice – the function speaks for itself, but for Russian-speaking pilots, it is useless, since the recognition of commands is made only from English.
Camera & Functionality
The built-in quadrocopter camera Pilotage Phantom 2 is capable of capturing photos and videos in HD resolution, broadcasting the image on the screen of a mobile device. The resolution of the matrix is 2MP. The viewing angle of the camera is 180°. To install a microSD memory card, the camera will need to pull out.
First of all, it is required to spread the rays because the quadrocopter is folding. The blades at first glance look loose, but they do not need to be too tight. If you do not belong to professional pilots, then it is necessary to establish protection. It will avoid the negative consequences of a collision with obstacles. After that, you need to get the camera and insert a microSD memory card (16 GB) into it.Given that the maximum video resolution is 720p, the memory card can last 5 hours. Next, prepare the Pilotage Phantom 2 control panel. First, insert two AAA batteries. Pilotage DJI Phantom 2 Drone control modes :
1.) beginner – installed by default; one beep means that this mode is activated;
2.) intermediate – if you press the control knob of the high-speed way from top to bottom, a double beep will sound from the remote control, which will indicate the start of this mode;
3.) advanced – press the knob from top to bottom, and a triple signal will sound from the remote control, indicating the start of this mode.
Using the controller, you can rotate the Pilotage Phantom 2 quadrocopter left and right, raise and lower, fly backward, and also perform various somersaults.
Remote Control
The control equipment Pilotage Phantom 2 entirely made of white plastic, and the surface is glossy. Externally, the console resembles an inverted gamepad from the console. Unfortunately, the white color scheme is impractical: the remote control collects a lot of dust and small scratches. In this case, the black color would be more practical and appropriate. The quadcopter remote control has a sliding design. On the body of the Pilotage Phantom 2 are two sticks, two triggers, and a power button. The rods designed not only to control the movement of the copter but also to switch its operating modes. So, the left stick allows you to choose the flight speed (30%, 60%, or 100%), and the right stick launches somersault mode. The left quadrocopter trigger changes the purpose of the action of the right and left sticks, and is also used to switch the photo and video mode—the right trigger designed to take off and land the device.
Battery & Charging
The battery in the quadrocopter is equipped with a lithium-polymer capacity of 850mAh. The battery voltage is 3.7V. The battery capacity is sufficient for an autonomous flight lasting from 6 to 8 minutes. The battery charged directly using a charging cable for about 60 minutes. During charging, the wire lights up with soft red light, and at the end of the process, the red light turns off.
Transportation
The drone must transport carefully. Nevertheless, this is an unprotected Mavik, and the Phantom does not like mechanical loads. You can buy an official backpack, which specially designed for this drone, or if you are going to carry it in a car, it is better to use a hard case.
