Introduction
A miniature projector in a stylish aluminum case ASUS S1 is suitable for presentations from a laptop or directly from a smartphone at various outdoor events. It is lightweight, easy to transport, instantly turns on, and shows excellent image quality. Asus S1 is not the first compact projector in the ASUS lineup. It allowed the manufacturer to improve this model compared with its predecessors and add new ‘chips’ to it. In particular, this projector is equipped with a battery – and can work offline and charge other devices.
Design
On the surfaces of a laconic aluminum case, there is nothing extra. The square projector box is so compact that it fits in the palm of your hand. Nothing violates the severity of the lines and even the lens hidden behind a unique curtain open with a small slider. On the side, the designers provided a small wheel for focusing on the image. The projector sold in a small cardboard box where the user will find as many as two covers for convenient transportation of the gadget itself and all the necessary cables (charger, USB, HDMI, MHL).
All the necessary connectors placed on the back of the projector: a headphone jack, an HDMI port combined with MHL, a USB port, a charger connector, and a power button. The ASUS S1 case mounted on two long rubber feet that help the device remain stable even on smooth surfaces. The bottom in the center there is a socket for attaching to a tripod. As a light source, the DLP projector Asus S1 uses RGB LEDs. The diagonal of the matrix is 0.3 inches, and the resolution is 854 × 480 pixels.
Control Buttons
Four control buttons placed on top. Others cut in the case, which not only looks original but also allows the user to feel the projector’s control in the dark. There are also two indicator lights indicating the active operating mode of the device and the charging process.
Image Technology
Of course, the image will be most juicy and saturated in a darkened room and at a small distance from the projector, but in daylight, the information in most cases remains readable. Due to its technical characteristics, the projector is not very suitable for watching high-definition films (unlike its predecessor). Still, it will cope well with information slides and small home videos and photos. By the way, the projector cannot zoom in on the picture; for this, the user needs to move the gadget itself. The projector is capable of providing a relatively small image measuring 30-100 inches, while it should be at a distance of 0.73 – 2.5 m from the image. Content can be output directly from a smartphone or tablet using an HDMI cable.
Battery & Charger
It already mentioned that thanks to the built-in battery, ASUS S1 can be used as a portable charger. With it, the user at any time recharges, for example, a smartphone. The battery capacity – 6000 mAh – is enough to add energy to the smartphone and provide an hour or two of projector operation away from sockets. An economy mode, with a low light flux of 50-100 ANSI lumens, the projector will last up to three hours.
