Introduction

The Optoma UHZ65 4K projector is similar to the UHD65 model from the same manufacturer, and only it uses a laser LED as a light source instead of a lamp. Certification bodies recognize resolution obtained in this way as 4K, but in reality, it is pseudo-4K. Admittedly, this is smart to keep costs down, as it allows you to achieve the desired result without using an expensive original 4K chip. However, we always reiterate that resolution is only one of the parameters of a quality image. Using a laser in this projector undoubtedly brings benefits in the form of instant on and off, long life of the light source, declared by the manufacturer at 20 00 hours, and more accurate color reproduction.

Laser Technology

A laser as a light source is becoming more and more critical. It is also the case with Optoma. With the Optoma UHZ65, the projector manufacturer is launching its first laser projector for home cinema rooms. The laser light source naturally offers several advantages over the 4K Projectors with lamps. It provides a run time of up to 20,000 hours. It usually corresponds to 3-4 lamps. These costs eliminated. Another superiority is that the control of the light on the individual pixels is better controlled. That explains that contrast from 2,000,000: 1. The laser clearly shows the difference between light and dark.

Image Technology

When it comes to home cinema, the Optoma UHZ65 is state-of-the-art to its 4K UHD resolution. The 3840 x 2160 pixels ensure a razor-sharp image. It makes it the perfect companion for the current UHD Blu-ray titles. The 4K-UHD decision ensures that you don’t miss a single detail. Now you can see the content in the quality as it recorded during the shoot. Together with its HDR compatibility, the Optoma UHZ65 ensures breathtaking images.

The HDR compatibility mostly comes with the 4K-resolution Hand in Hand. It is also the case with the Optoma UHZ65. The representation of the HDR content affects two areas contrast and on the colors. With the contrast range, the difference is quickly visible. To the High Dynamic Range, significantly more contrast levels can now display. However, this is visible in the pure contrast range from black to white and in the colors. They look livelier and more natural, like a projector without HDR. It means that the colors can now represent as we know them from nature. When it comes to image quality, the Optoma 4K-Beamer also has a sophisticated CMS (Color Management System) for adjusting the colors. To the setting options, it is possible to calibrate it according to the ISF ccc standard.

PureMotion & Ultra Detail Technology

At Optoma, the name PureMotion stands for Interframe calculation. In the case of fast image sequences, this ensures a clean display without trailing effects. It is, of course, always a matter of taste to use them. However, it is definitely worth using PureMotion technology when fast movements are shown, for example, in action films. In this case, inserting the intermediate images ensures a smooth image flow.

Optoma has used ultra Detail technology for some time. It is used in high-quality home theater projectors and ensures that the image sharpened. With the Optoma UHZ65, the 4K resolution is particularly useful. It takes care of the resharpening of the 4K content and the material that played back from a Blu-ray. In cooperation with the 4K resolution, it offers an attractive wealth of details.

Installation

When it comes to installation, the Optoma UHZ65 well positioned. It has a 1.6-fold zoom, which ensures pleasant flexibility. When choosing the distance and the image size, you can vary the optics well. Another advantage is the vertical Lens shift Function. You can use it to offset the image by 15%. At first glance, this is not too strong, but it helps immensely in fine-tuning the model. This function is particularly useful when setting up inside the screen.
